What are archetypes?
Archetypes are universal symbols, images, or patterns of behavior that are present in the collective unconscious of all human beings, across different cultures and historical periods. They are considered to be innate, primordial, and inherited from our ancestors.
Archetypes are a concept first introduced by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, who believed that they are deeply rooted in our psyche and influence our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, even if we are not aware of it. He suggested that archetypes are the building blocks of myths, fairy tales, and religions, and that they represent fundamental aspects of human experience, such as the hero, the mother, the trickster, the sage, the lover, the rebel, and the shadow.
Archetypes are not static or fixed, but can change over time and evolve according to individual experiences and cultural context. They can also manifest differently in different people, depending on their personal history and unconscious dynamics. By becoming aware of archetypes and their influence, individuals can gain deeper insights into their own psyche, their relationships, and their place in the world.
